Every Wrong Direction
The original show that started the conversation

Every Wrong Direction began as a one-woman tragicomedy exploring family, abandonment, domestic control, mental health, addiction, motherhood, survival, humour and the strange human ability to keep going while the laundry pile remains undefeated.

The show was first performed at Brighton Toy and Model Museum in 2019 and later returned in a revised version at Ironworks Studios, Brighton in 2024.

The response to the performances helped to shape the creation of Every Wrong Direction CIC. After shows, audience members often wanted to talk about their own families, silences, losses and complicated histories. That response suggested that the work was not only a performance, but a route towards a wider conversation.

This page is currently used as proof of concept while the CIC develops its first performance, workshop and creative discussion offers.

Every Wrong Direction CIC now builds on the original show’s approach: using trauma-informed performances from a variety of performers, storytelling, music, spoken word, humour and creative discussion to support communication, emotional literacy, connection and community wellbeing.

Future projects will include performances, workshops and participatory creative work. Participants will not be expected to disclose personal experiences. The work is creative, reflective and choice-led, and all activity is underpinned by safeguarding, emotional safety and trauma-informed practice.
